This past week the Mansfield office was closed so we could launch our spring books and attend a family funeral out of town. It was a week of celebration and sadness that became all the more insistent when we returned to Toronto to discover that David W. McFadden had died. Dave was, is, and will remain one of our greatest writers. Over the course of a long career he gave us so many wonderful books filled with his characteristic gentle wit and wisdom. He has been a huge influence on countless Canadian writers and it has been a great honour to publish his remarkable late-career books. Our thoughts go out to Dave’s family and his remarkable wife Merlin Homer.

We will post more about Dave and his work in the coming days. For now have a listen to a CBC interview with Stuart Ross. Stuart edited all of Dave’s books for Mansfield Press. Together they made some formidable titles that will keep Dave alive to anyone able to read.
