O n Wednesday, April 3, no less than four Mansfield authors will compete in Poetry NOW, hosted by NOW Magazine’s Susan G. Cole. This collaboration between NOW and the International Festival of Authors is always a fun filled event. Each poet will read for 5 minutes and a jury including Toronto Poet Laureate George Elliott Clarke, Authors at Harbourfront Centre Director Geoffrey Taylor, and Artistic Associate Jen Tindall will select one author to win an invitation to read at the 34th annual International Festival of Authors (October 24 to November 3, 2013) and have their book advertised in NOW Magazine. This year Mansfield authors Jim Smith (Happy Birthday, Nicanor Parra), Peter Norman (Water Damage), Lillian Necakov (Hooligans) and Glen Downie (Monkey Soap, coming in fall 2013) will share the stage with 16 other writers including Rosemary Aubert, Giles Benaway, Josephine Dion Casey,Warren Clements, Baila Ellenbogen, Kim Fahner, Mathew Henderson, Al Hunter, Amanda Jernigan, Beatriz Hausner, Shannon Maguire, Christine McNair, Jim Nason, John Oughton, Natalie Zina Walschots and Lisa Young.
